Rogers succeeded his brother-in-law, William Maister, at Hull, voting against the Government in the division of 4 June 1717 on Cadogan, with them on the repeal of the Occasional Conformity and Schism Acts, and against them on the peerage bill in 1719. Re-elected in 1722, he voted for the government candidate, Sir Henry Hoghton, at a by-election in 1724, after ‘wishing himself damned if he or his voted thus’.2J. R. Boyle, ‘Story of a Parl. Election’, Hull Times, 3 Jan. 1903. He did not stand in 1727. The date of his death is unknown.
