Swift, a Worcester merchant and grocer,1W.C. Metcalfe, Vis. Worcs. 1682-3, pp. 90-91. represented his native city as a Tory for nearly 23 years without a break. There is no record of his voting or speaking from 1715 till his death, 8 Feb. 1718.
