The son of a London merchant, Wynn was related by marriage to Sir William Massingberd, one of the leading Tories in Lincolnshire. Before 1696 he had purchased the manors of Folkingham and Threckington, Lincolnshire, from the Earl of Lincoln for £24,491,1HMC Lords, n.s. ii. 262. and in 1701 he bought Bedwell Park in Hertfordshire, which became his principal seat.2VCH Herts. iii. 460. A Tory under Anne, he was returned for Boston in 1715, voting against the Administration till his death, 26 Oct. 1719.
