Returned as a Government candidate at Malmesbury, Calvert voted with North’s Administration until the end. He voted for Shelburne’s peace preliminaries, 18 Feb. 1783, and, like his father, was classed by Robinson as a follower of Lord Weymouth; voted for Fox’s East India bill, 27 Nov. 1783, but was classed in Stockdale’s list of 19 Mar. 1784 as a follower of Pitt.
He was returned for Tamworth on Weymouth’s interest in 1784, and supported Pitt. There is no record of his having spoken before 1790.
He died 2 June 1844.
