Evelyn sat for Helston on the Godolphin interest, and for Penryn on the Falmouth interest. In Bute’s list he is classed as ‘Newcastle and Government’. He does not appear in Henry Fox’s list of Members favourable to the peace preliminaries nor in any list of those who voted against them. Jenkinson in the autumn of 1763 marked him as ‘pro’ and so did Rockingham, July 1765, but in November 1766 as ‘Swiss’ (prepared to follow any Administration). Townshend, January 1767, listed him as ‘Government’, and he voted with Administration on the land tax, 27 Feb. 1767. There is no record of his having spoken in the House. He died 11 June 1767.
