Fane in his earlier years was an attorney, and clerk to the society of merchant venturers of Bristol.
He supported Administration in the House of Commons, and continued to do so after succeeding to the peerage in 1762. The pension of £200 p.a. given him in 17561See FANE, Francis (d. 1757). he waived after one payment probably in return for the £100 a year which was paid to Lyme. After his brother’s death he took his place as Newcastle’s intermediary at Ilchester.
He died 25 Nov. 1771.
