biography text

In ‘Minutes of Conversations’ 16-19 Mar. 1754, dated Newcastle House, 19 Mar., the note against Stamford reads: ‘Mr. Barber or Mr. Thoresby chosen by Lord Exeter. Mr. Barber thinks Mr. Thoresby a Tory might be got over.’1Add. 32995, f. 102. But in Dupplin’s lists drawn up after the general election, Thursby was placed among the Tory opponents. He is not known to have spoken in the Parliament of 1754-61.

He died 1 June 1764, aged 54.
