Aldridge had considerable estates in West Sussex, and twice—1774 and 1784—contested New Shore-ham after its representation had been thrown into the rape of Bramber. On both occasions he was bottom of the poll. He was a friend of the Duke of Richmond, who, when master-general of the Ordnance, appointed Aldridge to be storekeeper. In 1784 Aldridge was returned after a contest on the Ordnance interest for Queenborough. Six speeches by him are recorded before 1790: four on Ordnance business, and two on a complaint of Ordnance interference at Queenborough.
He died 16 May 1795.
