biography text
Like his father, Bond was an independent country gentleman well disposed to the Government. In each of the six divisions, 12 Dec. 1781-15 Mar. 1782, he voted with them; voted against Shelburne’s peace preliminaries, 18 Feb. 1783; was classed by Robinson in March as ‘North, doubtful’; but voted against Fox’s East India bill; and is classed as a supporter of Pitt both by Stockdale, 19 Mar. 1784, and William Adam, May 1784. He voted against Government on Richmond’s fortifications plan, 27 Feb. 1786, but with them during the Regency crisis. There is no record of his having spoken in his first two Parliaments.
He died 12 May 1824.
