Andrew Foley, like his brothers, was connected politically with Charles James Fox: he opposed North, supported the Coalition, and opposed Pitt. There is no record of his having spoken in the House before 1790.
He did not share his brothers’ passion for gaming and was not involved in their debts. Mrs. Delany wrote about his marriage:1Autobiog. and Corresp. (ser. 2), i. 492-3.
The young people have liked one another some time. Mr. Foley settles on them in present his house and estate at Newport, which is now above £1000 a year, and Miss Tomlinson’s fortune, exclusive of what she will have after her mother’s death, is £7000 and £400 a year. It is a great match for him according to his present income; but Mr. Foley intends doing more if they behave well ... He says his son Andrew has always shown him a proper regard, is very well-disposed, and has withstood all the snares that have been laid for him.
Lord Foley showed his confidence in his youngest son by making him a trustee of his will.
Andrew Foley died 28 July 1818.
