Oxf. 1770. m. 10 May 1782, Hester (d. 26 May 1812), da. of George Grenville, 2s. suc. fa. as 3rd Baron 10 July 1785; cr. Earl Fortescue 1 Sept. 1789.

Returned for Beaumaris by Lord Bulkeley, a great friend of the young Grenvilles, Fortescue adhered to Pitt. There is no record of his having spoken or voted in the House of Commons during the year he sat in it.

He died 16 June 1841.
