Frankland consistently voted in opposition till he left Parliament in 1780. There is no record of his having spoken during his first period in the House. The family historian records that he was ‘distinguished as author, artist, scientist, mechanician, and classical scholar. A learned botanist and florist, an excellent naturalist and well known authority on British sports.’1Sir R. F. Payne-Gallwey, Ped. Frankland of Thirkleby.
He died 4 Jan. 1831.
