Described as ‘a merchant and cloth buyer at London’,1B. H. Cunnington, Annals of Devizes ii. 260. Jones was returned unopposed at Devizes. He supported North’s Administration to the end, did not vote on Shelburne’s peace preliminaries, 18 Feb. 1783, and appears in Robinson’s list of the ‘ill or cannot attend’ in March 1783. He did not vote on Fox’s East India bill, but in Stockdale’s list of 19 Mar. 1784 was classed as a supporter of Pitt. There is no record of his having spoken in the House. He did not stand at the general election of 1784.

He died 1 Oct. 1792.
