The family claimed kinship with the Lytteltons of Hagley, and in the 16th and 17th centuries frequently represented the county in Parliament. Sir Edward Littleton was returned unopposed in 1784 as a supporter of Pitt, and voted with Administration on Richmond’s fortifications plan, 27 Feb. 1786, and the Regency. His only recorded speech 1784-90 was against the tax on bricks, 22 July 1784.

Littleton died 18 May 1812 in his 86th year.1Gent. Mag. 1812, i. 597.
