Madocks was estimated by the Salisbury Journal, 25 Mar. 1782, to be the fifth most prosperous barrister, earning £3,800 p.a. At the Westbury by-election of 1786 he was returned unopposed on Lord Abingdon’s interest. He voted with Pitt on the impeachment of Impey, 9 May 1788, and over the Regency, 1788-9. There is no record of his having spoken in the House. Boswell’s estimate was: ‘a sensible, but a wondrous dull man’.1Private Pprs. x. 185.
He died 24 Oct. 1794.
