In 1780 Parker was brought in for Clitheroe when his brother-in-law, Thomas Lister, by a trick succeeded in depriving the Curzons of their seat. Parker voted with the Opposition in all the important divisions of February and March 1782, but apparently never spoke in the House. He vacated his seat in April 1782 to enable Lister to return John Lee, newly appointed solicitor-general.
Parker died 25 May 1797, aged 42.
