Standert was in partnership with a William Standert as early as 1740, and by 1749 was established as a merchant in Martin’s Lane, Cannon St. where he seems to have remained in business till at least 1780. He was returned for Bletchingley on the interest of his son-in-law, Sir Robert Clayton, whose lead he followed in the House, voting consistently with Opposition throughout his parliamentary career. There is no record of his having spoken. He did not stand in 1780.
He died 24 Apr. 1785.
