biography text

After his father’s defeat in the Hampshire election of 1790, Clarke Jervoise made way for him in the family seat for Yarmouth. His interest in politics seems to have been slight, and by 1809 he was a lunatic. His father named his youngest son Samuel as heir to his borough interest and all his other disposable property before he died. Clarke Jervoise died 30 Dec. 1809.1Add. 40387, f. 121; London Gazette (1809), 1373.
