Latouche’s father applied for him to become an Irish treasury commissioner in 1812, but the lord lieutenant doubted if he would be brought into Parliament and expected him in any case to favour Catholic relief. Latouche succeeded to his brother David’s seat for the county on the latter’s death and proved a steady opponent of ministry, acting in fact with the radical ‘Mountain’. No speech by him is known. He voted for Catholic relief and was popular with his Catholic constituents, but after a discouraging canvass in 1818 withdrew from the contest.
