biography text

No man of this name has been discovered, but the manor of Noseley in Leicestershire (not far from the meeting place of the 1426 Parliament at Leicester) was at the time held by Sir John Blaket†, an associate of the steward of the royal household, Walter, Lord Hungerford†, and it is possible that a Guildford seat was found for one of his servants. It seems rather less likely that the sheriff of Surrey’s clerk, writing at Guildford, erroneously substituted ‘Nousele’ for a name derived from nearby Loseley.
