In 1462 Walton, described as a yeoman of Carlisle, was among several of the citizens sued for trespass by John Aglionby, who was probably then the mayor of the city. His fellow MP for Carlisle in 1447, Thomas Stanlawe*, was connected with the Percys, as were the two knights of the shire for Cumberland, John Pennington* and William Martindale*, and the possibility cannot be discounted that Walton was also.1 KB27/804, rot. 2d; C219/15/4.
