Richard Hudson, who took the senior place for Lostwithiel, the administrative centre for the duchy of Cornwall, in the first Parliament of Edward VI’s reign, was probably a servant of Henry, Marquess of Dorset, a kinsman of the King and of Sir Thomas Arundell, the receiver-general of the duchy. Hudson stood near to Dorset, and after the disclosure of Sir Thomas Wyatt II’s conspiracy against Queen Mary he was one of the first to be arrested. His subsequent fate is not known, but he may have been the resident of Leicester, a clerk, who left £20 to each of his seven children in his will of 24 Nov. 1569.4Chron. Q. Jane and Q.
