This Member was probably the heir of Gladestry and not his kinsman Rhys Lewis of New Radnor who is thought to have sat for the Radnor Boroughs in the Parliament of 1571. Not only was he styled ‘gentleman’ on the Crown Office lists for October 1553 and 1558, but it appears that on the earlier occasion he was returned by the sheriff, Sir Adam Mytton (q.v), without reference to the burgesses of New Radnor: so, at least, it was contended in an Exchequer suit arising out of the election.
