Griffith is easily confused with his father and his two nephews, all namesakes and active in local affairs. As a magistrate, he was jointly responsible for the county musters of 1587, and in the same year he denounced to the council the secret Welsh recusant printing press in Rhiwledyn cave.3Jnl. Welsh Bibliog. Soc. ix. 4-5; Clenennau Letters, ed. Pierce, no. 4. His main concern was, however, with his Admiralty duties, which he was still carrying out in 1611.
