Onslow established himself in London as a minor legal official. He was presumably returned at both St. Mawes and Penryn through the influence of his brother-in-law and London neighbour, William Killigrew. On 15 Feb. 1587 he was appointed to deputize as clerk of the Commons during the illness of Fulk Onslow, who, on another occasion complained that William Onslow had attempted to withhold a lease assigned to him in trust. Late in 1598 William Onslow was called before the Privy Council for not paying £200 required of him for a government loan, and two years later a contribution from him was again overdue.

He probably died in 1612. His will, dated 19 Jan. 1609, and confirmed by him on 24 July of the following year, was proved 5 Jan. 1613.1Vis. Salop (Harl. Soc. xxix), 379; J.
