biography text

Polsted’s marriage to Elizabeth More of Loseley was an event of the year, the festivities taking place at Blackfriars from 3 to 17 Nov. Among the guests was the man to whom Polsted must later have owed his return to Parliament for Hindon, Bishop Horne of Winchester. Polsted died 31 Mar. 1576. His nuncupative will left £20 towards his sister-in-law’s marriage, and the residue to his wife who was appointed executor, together with Robert Cresswell, William More, Henry Knollys and Alexander Nowell, dean of St. Paul’s.1Vis.
