Purslow’s daughter Scholastica was baptised in Castle church, Stafford 9 Feb. 1569, so perhaps he was a servant at the castle. In 1576 a cousin, John Purslow, married the daughter of Sir George Blount of Kinlet, which suggests a link with the Devereux family. Little has been ascertained about him, but on 21 Jan. 1581 Richard Broughton informed the House that his fellow-Member (presumably Purslow, for there is no reason to think he had been supplanted since his election in 1572), had been indicted of a felony. Purslow died in 1618, and was buried on 15 Apr. at Habberley.1Vis. Salop (Harl. Soc. xxix), 415; Salop Arch. Soc. Trans. (ser. 4), iii. 111-18; Castle Church Par. Reg. 1; Sidbury Par.
