St. John’s father’s estates were near Stockbridge and both father and son sat for the borough. St. John was involved in a celebrated dispute over his return to the Commons in 1614, in defiance of the chancellor of the duchy of Lancaster. He died 7 Apr. 1621.1Vis. Hants (Harl.
