Lawley was returned for Wenlock in 1685 on the family interest, but was completely inactive in James II’s Parliament. It was reported in 1688 that his father had settled Spoonhill on him, but he was repeatedly defeated at Wenlock and never regained his seat, though he lived to be nearly 80. He executed a codicil to his will on 22 Oct. 1729, and died before the end of the year. His grandson was returned for Warwickshire as a Whig in 1780.1Salop Arch. Soc. Trans.
