John Bond, who was first returned on his family’s interest at Corfe Castle in 1721 as a stop-gap, did not stand in 1722 but took the place of his brother, who moved to Poole, in 1727. He voted against the Government on the Hessians in 1730, but with them in all subsequent recorded divisions, except on the Hanoverians in 1742 and 1744, when he was absent. He was said to have been associated with his brother in the fraudulent sale of the forfeited Derwentwater estates in 1723; but though he was named for so doing in the report of the House of Commons committee of 1732,1Parl. Hist. viii. 1034, 1039; HMC Egmont Diary, i. 244. no further action seems to have been taken against him. He died 19 June 1744.
