Broke was descended from Sir Robert Broke (d. 1529), chief baron of the Exchequer, who built the family seat at Nacton, near Ipswich.1Copinger, Suff. Manors. iii. 68. Returned as a Tory after a contest at a by-election, he spoke against the Hessians on 4 Feb. 1730,2Winnington to Fox, Feb. [1730], Fox mss. voted consistently against the Government, but did not stand again. He died 21 Sept. 1762.
