biography text

Returned for Chester as a Tory at a by-election in 1733, Bunbury voted against the Government on the excise bill and the repeal of the Septennial Act. In January 1738 he went to the south of France for the recovery of his health.1HMC 10th Rep. I, 513. Perhaps for this reason he was absent from the division on the Spanish convention on 8 Mar. 1739, but thereafter he voted with the Opposition in all recorded divisions till his death, 10 Apr. 1742.
