Curzon was returned for Clitheroe as a Tory by his brother, Sir Nathaniel Curzon, 4th Bt. ‘A stranger in the borough, [who] never paid the compliment of attending at his own election’,1An Answer to the Apology for the conduct of Thomas Lister, 21. he is not known to have voted, and was not put up in 1747. Walpole wrote to Mann, 15 Dec. 1748, that John Stanhope
was sitting by ... old Mr. Curzon, a nasty wretch, and very covetous: his nose wanted blowing, and continued to want it: at last Mr. Stanhope ... said ‘indeed, Sir, if you don’t wipe your nose, you will lose that drop’.
He died 24 June 1749, leaving a large fortune to his brother, Sir Nathaniel.2Gent. Mag. 1749, p. 331.
