EYRE, Robert (c.1693-1752), of Newhouse, Wilts.

Eyre was the son of an eminent lawyer, whom he succeeded as recorder of Southampton. Returned for Southampton in 1727, he voted with the Administration on the civil list arrears in 1729. In the following May he vacated his seat on being appointed a commissioner of excise. He was elected one of the trustees of the Georgia Society on 21 Mar. 1734 and a common councillor of it on 17 Mar. 1737.1HMC Egmont Diary, ii. 66, 372. He died 14 Dec. 1752.
