Thomas Farrington was connected with the Selwyns. His mother’s sister was wife of Major-General William Selwyn, M.P., whose eldest son, John Selwyn, married Farrington’s sister Mary.2Webb, Miller & Beckwith, Chislehurst, 156. Returned at a by-election for Whitchurch in 1727, he succeeded his cousin Charles Selwyn at Mitchell in the general election of that year; but though he was re-elected in 1733 after obtaining a place, he was beaten there in 1734. He did not stand again till 1747, when he was brought in for Ludgershall by his brother-in-law John Selwyn. In Parliament he voted for the Administration in all recorded divisions and was classed by the ministry as ‘for’ in 1747. He died 29 Jan. 1758.
