Goodall, a Fowey merchant, belonged to a prominent local family. He and his father-in-law had an interest of their own in the borough,1E.W. Rashleigh, Hist. Fowey, 18, 29; C. S. Gilbert, Hist. Surv. Cornw. i. 590. for which he was returned as a Tory in 1722. Included in a list of supporters sent to the Pretender in 1721, he was in contact with Atterbury’s agents during the plot of 1722.2Stuart mss 65/16; Report from the Committee appointed by the House of Commons to examine Christopher Layer and others (1723), App. F11. He died 19 Feb. 1725.
