Robert Gray, whose identity has not been determined, was put down by Sunderland in 1721 for the venal borough of Hindon, where he was returned unopposed. No votes of his have been recorded nor did he stand again. He was, however, at Hindon during the 1727 election, after which he gave evidence before the elections committee on behalf of the unsuccessful candidates, George and Henry Fox.1CJ, xxi. 132. A Robert Gray of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, who went out to India in 1730 as factor for the East India Company, died September 1730 at Fort St. George.2PCC 153 Isham, 122 Ducie; Gent. Mag. 1731.
