Robert Mansel, the heir to an ancient Welsh family, was an active Jacobite, whose name was sent to the Pretender in 1721 as one of the leaders of Glamorgan in the event of a rising.1C. A. Maunsell E. P. Statham, Maunsell Fam. ii. 21-26; Stuart mss 65/16. Returned for Minehead on the Luttrell interest at a by-election in December 1721, he died a few months before his father, 29 Apr. 1723.
