Of an ancient Warwickshire family, Newsham was returned for Lostwithiel by the Administration in 1720, presumably through the influence of his brother-in-law, James Craggs. On 25 Apr. 1721, when the part of the report of the committee of secrecy relating to the elder Craggs’s estate came before the House, his brother-in-law Samuel Trefusis asked for counsel to speak for them, adding ‘he [Trefusis] never had been used to speak in the House, or but very rarely, and Mr. Newsham ... not at all.’1Chandler, vi. 243-4.
He died 21 Nov. 1724.
