Samuel Rush, a vinegar distiller, whose grandfather, William Rush of Colchester, had started the family business of vinegar making in Castle Street, Southwark, in 1641,2VCH Surr. ii. 398. was returned in 1715 as a Tory for Shaftesbury, where he was a stranger, but was unseated on petition. He was also unsuccessful at Colchester in 1715 and Southwark in 1722. He died 13 Mar. 1725.
