Trotman, whose family had been seated at Bucknell since 1652, was returned for Woodstock against the Duchess of Marlborough’s candidates in 1722, with the support of the Tory Earl of Abingdon. Unopposed in 1727, he is not recorded as voting, and did not stand again. He died 2 Feb. 1748.
