Hudson appears in the London directories 1769-1782 as a partner in Fludyer, Marsh and Hudson, warehousemen, 79 Basinghall Street. He dealt at times in Government stock, but never held much for any length of time and does not appear among the subscribers to the two loans of 1780-1.

He was returned for Chippenham on the Fludyer interest and in succession to his partner Samuel Marsh, the young Fludyers being still under age. He voted with Administration on Lowther’s motion against the war, 12 Dec. 1781; it is uncertain whether he voted on the censure motion against the Admiralty, 20 Feb. 1782; and he was absent from the divisions of 22 and 27 Feb. and 8 Mar.; but voted with Administration on the ‘no confidence’ motion of 15 Mar., when Robinson placed him among the ‘new persons who did not vote before’. In a list sent to Sandwich on 15 Mar. Robinson added after Hudson’s name: ‘ill, query whether able to stay it out’.3Sandwich mss.In his will made in November 1782,4PCC 130 Cornwallis. Hudson speaks of himself as ‘of indifferent health of body’; he was absent from the division on Shelburne’s peace preliminaries, and died the next day, 19 Feb. 1783.
