On 5 Nov. 1763 Charles, 9th Viscount Irwin, who had just succeeded to the peerage, asked Pitt to recommend a friend to the vacant seat at Horsham. Pitt named Pratt, ‘a gentleman’ of ‘sound principles, fair character, and promising abilities in Westminster Hall’.1Chatham Corresp. ii. 266-8. In politics Pratt followed his uncle: he voted against the Grenville Administration, supported those of Rockingham and Chatham, and went over to Opposition in January 1770. He seems never to have spoken in Parliament.
He died 21 July 1775.
