biography text

Robinson inherited considerable estates in Northamptonshire. In 1774 he successfully contested Northampton, apparently on his own interest in conjunction with Wilbraham Tollemache, the Spencer candidate. The Public Ledger described him in 1779 as ‘an honest, independent country gentleman of Whig principles and inclined to Opposition’; and all his recorded votes were against Administration. There is no record of his having spoken in the House. Robinson did not stand again in 1780, nor apparently at any subsequent election.

He died 10 Oct. 1815.
