A local merchant, Weston was returned for Poole in 1705. His only known vote was in favour of the Court candidate for Speaker on 25 Oct. A loyal supporter of the Whig Junto, Weston’s political conduct exasperated Country Whigs such as Lord Shaftesbury (Anthony Ashley*), who described Weston and his colleague at Poole, (Sir) William Phippard, as ‘sad Whig tools’. Weston was classed as a Whig in early 1708, but did not stand at the subsequent general election. He remained active in local politics, however, obtaining the mayoralty of Poole in 1710. He made his will on 22 Sept. 1716 and died before the end of the year, the will being proved in December.3 PRO 30/24/20/356–7; 30/24/22/1/59–60; PCC 240 Fox.
