MANATON, Henry (1650-1716), of Harewood, Calstock, Cornw.

Calstock was leased to Manaton in 1685. At the general election of 1689 he was returned with his brother for Camelford, two-thirds of which later became his property. No activity in the Convention can definitely be attributed to him, and on 19 July he was given leave for a month. Nothing is known of his politics either at this time, but after 1690 he usually voted with the Tories. He probably died shortly before 16 May 1716, when his cousin and heir succeeded him as recorder of Camelford; but no later member of the family sat in Parliament.Cal. Treas.
