biography text

Barrington was probably only in his early twenties when he died, apparently unmarried and childless. Almost nothing is known of him. If he became a gentleman pensioner (and his connexions with Lord Montagu and the Hastings family make this possible), it must have been in the last year of his life, as his name appears only on the 1590 list. It is not known who arranged his return for St. Germans.Vis. Essex (Harl. Soc. xiii), 148; Lansd. 80, f. 217; Morant, Essex, ii. 504-5; Rylands Eng. ms 311; E407/1/20, ex inf. W. J. Tighe.
