Commr. to make proclamation, Cumb. June 1444 (for appearance of William Stapleton* before King and council); of oyer and terminer May 1449. It was almost certainly another Richard Bristowe who was appointed surveyor of the search in the ports of Southampton, Chichester and Poole in 1434: CPR, 1429–36, pp. 332, 337.
