b. c.1415, s. and h. of Sir Thomas Brooke* by Joan, Lady Cobham. m. (1) c. spring 1430, Margaret; Harl. Chs. 46 H 9, 21. (2) between Nov. 1436 and Feb. 1437, Elizabeth, da. of James Tuchet, 5th Lord Audley (d.1459), ? by his 2nd w. Eleanor, illegit. da. of Edmund Holand, earl of Kent, CP, iii. 346 errs in stating that her fa. was Thomas Holand, earl of Kent: see PROME, x. 461-3; Genealogist, n.s. xxviii. 62. However, since the marriage of Lord Audley and Eleanor Holand had not been consummated by Feb. 1430, it is perhaps more likely that Elizabeth’s mother was Audley’s first wife, Margaret Roos, and that Elizabeth was a full sister rather than half-sister of John Audley* alias Tuchet. 1s. 1da.; (3) Joan (fl.1479). Her family background has not been discovered. Kntd. by June 1432; Harl. Ch. 46 H 21. summ. as Lord Cobham 13 Jan. 1445-Feb. 1463. CP, iii. 346; Reps.
