m. Katherine, 1s. J. Kermode, ‘Merchants of York, Hull and Beverley’ (Sheffield Univ. Ph.D. thesis, 1990), app. 4. Katherine has generally been thought to have been a da. of the York mercer Thomas Kirkham, but a codicil to Kirkham’s will names the husband of this Katherine as John Crathorne, while conversely Thomas Crathorne, Kirkham’s executor, is at no point described as his son-in-law: Borthwick Inst., Univ. of York, York registry will, prob. reg. 3, ff. 485v-486.
